The lunch and afternoon programs offer children the opportunity to enjoy social interactions among a mixed age group.

Children at MECEC experience a variety of high-quality enrichment classes that enhance their learning, deepen their understanding and provide new avenues for expression.  These include:

  • Music - Music helps the body and the mind work together. Exposing children to music during early development, helps them learn sounds and the meaning of words. Dancing to music helps children build motor skills while allowing them to practice self-expression and strengthen memory skills.

  • Creative MovemenT- Movement is one of the first forms of communication from birth through infancy.  Dancing, tumbling, rolling, rocking, hopping, jumping, and crawling are only a few ways that children can become more self-confident learners.  Creative Movement in early childhood education is a way for children to explore movement through music, develop physical skills, channel energy, stimulate imagination and promote creativity.

  • Art- Art is free expression! Giving children a creative outlet can help relieve stress and work through things happening in their lives. By encouraging artistic expression, you can help multifaceted learning experiences.  While children at MECEC are always creating art.

  • Yoga- Enhances children's flexibility, coordination, strength, and body awareness. Including improving children's concentration and sense of calmness.

  • Cooking- Children learn by exploring with their senses. Cooking is an ideal activity for children to explore new tastes, use their emerging math skills, work collaboratively in a group taking turns, enhance their self-help skills and boost confidence skills.  This is incorporated throughout the year in both the morning and afternoon programs.
